Farewell to Windrush

Windrush: La Colina Donde Corre El Viento

a Spanglish poem for students, faculty, staff and families at Windrush
from Rennea Couttenye, Oct 28, 2011

Windrush is a jardín on a hill.  Here I landed,
pushed by ocean breezes onto a cerrito
Here I grew and became a flor.
You have too,  since we first said hello.

Today winds are strong and take me away
like fresh cut stem, I feel some pain.
It's scary to fly in the wind
(think of it, Mary Poppins)

Still, every time I've been lifted away in el aire
I've flown to unknown places, and safely landed
and all the amigos I left behind,
are close, still friends of mine.

For all the people here at Windrush:
en la Colina Donde Corre el Viento
deséenme suerte on my take-off and flight.
I'll be back to visit in algún momento

Wish me a good landing in a place that's cool
a place friendly and nurturing and lovely
like this wonderful escuela:
