Farewell to Windrush

Windrush: La Colina Donde Corre El Viento

a Spanglish poem for students, faculty, staff and families at Windrush
from Rennea Couttenye, Oct 28, 2011

Windrush is a jardín on a hill.  Here I landed,
pushed by ocean breezes onto a cerrito
Here I grew and became a flor.
You have too,  since we first said hello.

Today winds are strong and take me away
like fresh cut stem, I feel some pain.
It's scary to fly in the wind
(think of it, Mary Poppins)

Still, every time I've been lifted away in el aire
I've flown to unknown places, and safely landed
and all the amigos I left behind,
are close, still friends of mine.

For all the people here at Windrush:
en la Colina Donde Corre el Viento
deséenme suerte on my take-off and flight.
I'll be back to visit in algún momento

Wish me a good landing in a place that's cool
a place friendly and nurturing and lovely
like this wonderful escuela:
The Windrush School

te puedes sentar a conversar o simplemente a mirar

Gris hijo, gris mulato, gris sardina

49

Dear Friends,
I'm finally becoming a TRUE 49er:
pioneer woman, gold digger, fighting my way in the wild frontier.

On Sunday January 30th, celebrate with me that 29 years ago I arrived in San Francisco
youthful and energetic at 20, found a few gold nuggets and stayed for good.

Rennea Clementine de la Josephine Boone

Sunday Brunch
The celebration consists of an early arepada-brunch from 12:30 to 2:30
a bluegrass duet playing special 49rs music around 2:30pm
joyful laughter, lively music, and tasty arepas shared with a small group of friends
including you (not the usual bash, which I'm reserving for my 50th)

Bring violins, accordions or banjos to keep with the theme of Oh My Darling, Clementine.
"... dwelt a miner, 49er and his daughter Clementine"
(cuatros and maracas are acceptable substitutes)
Miners attire and gold pan optional.

Respondez si vous plait - (RSVP) by Jan 26 to measure the Harina Pan
